Is a Recession Unavoidable?

One of the best known economists in the Rocky Mountain region is Tucker Hart Adams, who publishes an economic forecast for U.S. Bank. Adams believes that falling home prices, stagnant income growth, high levels of debt and rising mortgage payments threaten consumers' ability and willingness to spend.  She believes that there is very little chance of escaping a downturn altogether in the next 18 months and that there is about an equal chance of of a deep, versus a mild, national recession.  Turning her focus to Colorado, Adams expects a milder recession in the state because of lower levels of speculative home-price appreciation in recent years.

Tucker Hart Adams is president of The Adams Group, Inc., and a member of the Board of Advisors for Innovest Portfolio Solutions.  For her complete 2008 forecast, click on this link:  Economic Forecast
