Bear Market Recoveries

While it is impossible to predict the near-term fluctuations in the stock market, it can be helpful to recall that bear markets do not last indefinitely and that recoveries from low points can be dramatic.  According to BTN Research, in the one-year periods following the low points from the nine bear markets since 1957 (defined as declines of 20% or more), the S&P 500 Stock Index gained an average of 35.8%.
