BlackRock’s Weekly Investment Commentary

Last week U.S. stocks registered their best week in more than 30 years, but also capped the worst month in over 20 years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 11.3% to end the week at 9,325, the S&P 500 Index advanced 10.5% to 969, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 10.9% to 1,721.

Still, intense stock market volatility continued amid signs of improving conditions in the commercial paper market, a third-quarter gross domestic product reading that showed the economy contracted 0.3%, and a rate cut by the Federal Reserve.
