Richard Todd, Managing Principal, CEO

Rich is a co-founder and manager of Innovest Portfolio Solutions LLC. He is a member of Innovest’s Investment Committee, which makes decisions on investment related research and due diligence.  He has nearly 25 years of experience in investment consulting and currently provides consulting services to institutions and individuals. His clients include public funds, corporate plans, Taft-Hartley funds, and wealthy families. In addition to client consulting, Rich is responsible for business development. Rich has been named as one of America’s top 100 independent investment advisors by Barron’s.

Prior to establishing Innovest, Rich was First Vice-President of Investment Management Consulting Group of Dain Bosworth and Managing Director of RPRime Services, the consulting department at Rauscher Pierce Refsnes. Rich’s responsibilities included consulting to the firm’s top clients, coordination with other departments and professionals, and department management. He has earned the Certified Investment Management Consultant (CIMC) designation from the Institute for Investment Management Consultants. Rich has a business degree from Western State College.

Rich is a Registered Fiduciary™, earned through Strategic Ethos and Dalbar, Inc., in conjunction with the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies at the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business.  This designation represents Rich's commitment to acting in the best interest of clients.

Rich has been a frequent author on fiduciary and investment related matters. He has been a columnist for the Denver Business Journal and has been published in Financial Advisor Magazine, Private Asset Management, Defined Contribution News, The Investment Councilor, On Wall Street, Colorado Lawyer, Pension World, Journal of Compensation and Benefits, Colorado Society of CPA’s News Account, Registered Rep, Quarterly Forum, Pension & Investments, The Denver Post, Accounting Today, Senior Consultant, Plan Sponsor. Rich also wrote a chapter in The World of Money Management, a 380 page compendium of scholarly research, opinions and information developed by many of the top investment industry professionals. Additionally, Rich has been a guest lecturer at the ICIMC National Conference, University of Denver Graduate Tax Program, National Jewish Estate Planning Conference, the Callan IMC National Conference, the Colorado Public Pension Conference, the Western Pension & Benefits Conference, and the Mountain States Employers Council, among others.

Rich has served the community as former President of Legatus of Colorado, an organization fostering business ethics. Rich is a member of The 100 Club of Denver which provides financial support to the families of police and firefighters that are under stress. He is on the finance council for Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish and he serves on the investment committee of Regis Jesuit High School Foundation. He is also a member of the Philanthropy Roundtable. In addition, he is the Vice Chair of Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust, an organization that provides educational opportunities to at-risk children, as well as the board of Families of Character, a national organization that helps parents raise children with strong character and moral integrity. Rich and his wife Joanie have been married for over 25 years and have two children, Alexandra and Reagan.
