Nonprofit Spotlight: Capuchin Franciscan Friars

Innovest provides investment advice to faith-based nonprofit organizations. Each quarter, we showcase one of our clients, and we are proud to feature the Capuchin Franciscan Friars this quarter.

Provincial Minister Fr. Christopher Popravak, O.F.M. Cap., explains that "Money and riches will not bring us happiness, neither is power and prestige." As a Capuchin Franciscan, Father Popravak and his brothers have chosen to relinquish all worldly belongings and lead simple, prayerful lives focused on serving the poor and marginalized with joy and hope. This religious order is dedicated to living in the spirit of their founder, St. Francis of Assisi.

The Capuchin friars prioritize two essential pillars: prayer and fraternity, with prayer being their main focus. They have a strong devotion to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and serve the poor through both prayer and active ministry. Their work includes serving in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, hospitals, prisons, and as confessors and spiritual directors.

Their ministry is supported by generous donors and faithful servants, enabling them to continue forming young men in the spirituality of St. Francis. These young men bring the Gospel of Jesus  to the poorest and most neglected among us. To learn more about the Capuchins and their ministry, please visit: https://www.capuchins.org/.
