Brett Minnick, CFA

Vice President

Brett is a Vice President and Consultant at Innovest. Brett provides consulting services to Innovest’s retirement plan, nonprofit, and family clients. Brett is a member of the Capital Markets Research Group, responsible for the monitoring of the global macroeconomic environment, asset allocation modeling, and portfolio construction. Brett leads the Due Diligence Group, responsible for sourcing investment managers, conducting qualitative analysis regarding performance, understanding return attribution, and meeting management teams both at Innovest and at their offices. The group works in conjunction with Innovest’s Investment Committee, of which Brett is also a member. The Investment Committee drives the firm’s related research and due diligence. Brett holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Brett graduated from the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), where he earned his Bachelor of Science in finance and a minor in economics. While at UNC, he also participated in the Student and Foundation Fund (SAFF) class. The SAFF class contains student-managed portfolios comprised of different assets totaling more than $2 million. This class provides students with the unique opportunity to gain real-world experience by actively managing portfolios, diligently analyzing securities, and precisely following IPS guidelines. Upon completion of the class, students present to the Foundation Board and discuss the successes and lessons learned throughout the semester.

Brett also played first base for the UNC varsity baseball team, where he earned WAC All-Academic recognition throughout his four-year career.

During his free time, Brett enjoys spending time with his growing family, as well as spending time outdoors hiking, and rooting for the New York Yankees.
