Employee Spotlight – John Brock

  1. Where is your hometown?

    • I grew up in Aurora, CO

  2. Tell us something unique about you.

    • I really like to collect socks and Christmas ornaments. Almost all my socks have some fun pattern on them, and I typically have a sock for every holiday. Every time my wife and I go somewhere, we typically always look for a Christmas ornament and a pair of socks to collect. After doing this for a few years, every ornament on our Christmas tree is special and has a story, just like everyone I meet!

  3. What do you like best about working at Innovest?

    • Being able to help people. I get a lot of joy out of helping people solve their problems and giving them time back in their day. I like looking for efficiencies in our workflows to help find ways for technology to help people do more with their time. As our company grows, I hope to continue to help the technology side of our business support the great people that work here.

  4. How do you give back to the community?

    • I like to volunteer with the Denver Rescue Mission, specifically with the young professionals board, where we are looking for active ways to get young professionals involved with the Denver Rescue Mission. I served on the young professionals board for a few years before I started my family and still enjoy volunteering with them when I can find time.

  5. What are your hobbies and interests?

    • I enjoy rock climbing, primarily indoor, as a fun mental and physical challenge, and it’s a great way to stay in touch with old friends in the area. My wife and I also enjoy spending time together watching movies and playing video games, and I am a big tech nerd. Additionally, working in finance, I do enjoy talking about the capital markets and derivatives trading.

  6. Tell us about your family.

    • My wife and I met in high school at Regis Jesuit. We did long distance through college, and we got engaged shortly after college in 2020. We started our little family when our son, Aurelius, was born in May of 2023. He is a great bundle of joy, and we love watching him grow up.

  7. What is your favorite dessert?

    • S'mores, and anything s’mores related. Wood burning campfires are my favorite smell, and I am sad they are discontinuing the s’mores girl scout cookie.
