Secular InnoViews Nonprofit Spotlight – 2Q25
International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC)
At Innovest, we take pride in supporting the missions of our clients. This quarter, we are excited to spotlight the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). This is an international nonprofit organization composed of scientific and medical professionals, dedicated solely to the research, prevention, and treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic illnesses. Founded in 1974, the IASLC includes more than 8,000 members including researchers, clinicians, nurses, and patient advocates from more than 100 countries.
The IASLC’s mission is to serve as the world’s leading multidisciplinary authority in thoracic oncology through collaborative scientific research, education, and advocacy. Their overarching goal is to reduce the global burden of lung cancer and improve patient outcomes.
Key initiatives of the IASLC include funding research grants, setting international standards for cancer staging and classification, and disseminating knowledge through scientific publications like the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. The organization also hosts the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC), the largest international meeting focused on thoracic cancers, bringing together professionals from around the world to share advancements in the field. This year’s global conference will be held in September in Barcelona.
In addition, the IASLC actively participates in global advocacy and provides support to patients and caregivers through educational programs and public awareness initiatives, such as the STARS program (Supportive Training for Advocates on Research & Science) and its involvement in Lung Cancer Awareness Month each November.
Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the IASLC continues to play a crucial role in unifying the global effort to combat thoracic cancers through science, community, and innovation. For more information, please visit their website www.iaslc.org.
